The following story is based on true testimony given in the Colorado Countyhouse, Columbus, Texas, on August 17, 1880, by Angus McNeill, at one time President of The Shreve Town Company in Louisiana. As sole survivor of that group, McNeill and heirs of other members challenged Hicks and Howell, merchants in Shreveport, over ownership of the Upper Water Street tract on the waterfront.
